Makita Sanders Powertools

Makita offer a wide variety of sanders, the most popular types being Belt, Orbital and Random Orbital. Belt sanders are the heavy duty machines in the sander class, they are ideal for sanding with the grain of large areas like floorboards. Both the oldest, and most popular Makita belt sander is the 9401, the tried and trusted, super duty sander has been put through its paces for years and has never missed a beat.

Next we have Orbital sanders, these most commonly are sold as either 1/4, 1/3 or 1/2 sheet machines. Orbital sanders; much like the name, work in a orbital action, they are mostly used to apply the finishing touches a work piece with finer grades of sand paper, this is why they can also be known as Finishing sanders.

Lastly, but perhaps the most versatile machines are the Random Orbital Sanders, most commonly fitted with either a 125mm or 150mm circular sanding pad. Their pads orbit in a circular motion combining the oscillating action of an orbital sander with a rotating action to avoid scratching. A popular choice among the Makita Orbital Sanders is the BO6030 with a 150mm sanding pad.

Most power tools are only as good as the accessory that it is partnered with. Makita offer a wide variety and sanding belts and sheets ranging from course to fine. As a rule, the lower the grade (or Grit) of the sand paper the more course the finish, meaning the higher the grade, the finer the finish.
