Makita 421454-2 — Original Makita gear/housing cover for model 8406 (and 8406X)
Replace a cracked or missing gearbox cover with this original Makita 421454-2 housing cover designed for the Makita 13 mm diamond-core / hammer drill (models 8406 and 8406X). The molded housing cover restores the factory mounting points and screw bosses so the gearbox lines up correctly and the internal gears, bearings and seals are protected from dust and debris. It’s the same cover shown in parts breakdown for the 8406 series, so it fits without modification and reinstalls using the original screw locations.
Condition note: sold as the housing/gear-cover component only — inspect the mating edges and screw bosses on your tool before fitting to ensure clean, secure reassembly. Installation is straightforward: remove the old cover, clean the sealing surfaces, then seat the replacement cover and fasten with the original screws to restore proper gearbox alignment.
