This is the original Makita lower blade guard plate (part no. JM23100105) that replaces the lower section of the blade-guard assembly on Makita 260 mm (10") sliding compound mitre saw models such as LS1018L and the LS1017L/LS1018.
Designed to sit in the lower guard complete assembly, the plate is intended to be secured in place with the guard rivets (three rivets) and works together with the guard wheel and associated guard hardware — it restores the blade coverage and dust routing that keep the saw safe and functioning.
Fitment is model-specific, so check your saw’s parts diagram for the matching part number before installing; this part is listed in Makita parts diagrams for the LS1018L and LS1017L series.
